Colin's Webpage

Hi. I'm Colin Greenwood.

Currently my main areas of interest is the creation of Android apps. This takes two forms. The creation of apps for galleries of which I have produced two at present. These are for the Wallace Collection in London and the Barber Institute in Birmingham. It has to be stated that both these projects are private projects and the galleries themselves are in no way responsible for the outcome, whether good or bad.

The second form is the creation of computer generated visual art. I refer to these as ArtTech in the same manner as FinTech, that is art technology. Two of these works have been incorporated into the Wallace Collection app and the Barber Institute app. These are works that are in the style of Piet Mondrian, the Dutch artist and can be seen on the introductory page of the apps. Also to be found on the app page is BS Image Animator which is a structure that I created to create and work with new visuals. A form of sketch pad for computer generated visual art forms.

The most ambitious piece that I have created is a digital art display around Holst's Planets Suite. It has a separate digital display for each of the seven movements. The book entitled Holst, The Planets by Richard Greene was of immense help in assisting my understanding of the piece and hence the creation of the visual art piece.

The form of digital art that I work on is that created by computer code. My art work is a computer code using the Android/Java stack. This is distinct from digital art created using specific software.

Art has always embraced technology to extend its boundaries. I am using the Andoid mobile space to create art forms programatically.

This year I extended the Wallace Collection app to include the miniatures and snuff boxes that are located in the boudoir cabinet of the museum.

Following on I extended the Planets digital art piece by making it interactive and by enhancing the visual display. Further details of the work can be seen under The Planets tag.
